Our Story
On August 1, 2010 we received a text from a horse owner we had previously visited looking for a horse for our daughter. The text stated she had moved and asked us if we could go out to her property because one of the horses was caught in the fence. When we arrived we found Tumble, pictured above, wrapped in the fence and struggling for her life. We decided to load up the 3 neglected horses from this property that had been left behind and Rough Start Horse Rescue was established.
Our Mission-
- To help, protect, and provide care for horses of all breeds in need.
- To educate the public on acts of neglect and abuse, and how to prevent it
- To speak out against irresponsible and excessive breeding of these animals.
